Survey André Vila (Sudanese Nubia)

Monday 10 October 2016, by SFDAS

In 1969, a cultural agreement was concluded between the French and Sudanese governments. On the basis of a protocol included in this agreement, a French archaeological research unit, SFDAS (French Section at the National Corporation for Antiquities and Museums NCAM) was created in the Sudan Antiquities Department to carry out archaeological research in Sudan in collaboration With the NCAM. This partnership immediately focused on the main priority at the time, namely carrying out a survey in the northern province of the country, as it was the most threatened area after the construction of the Aswan dam. With these 15 volumes, ten years of research (1975-1985) published by SFDAS in Sudan are made available to a wider audience in PDF documents for free access.
